Before we get into the implications of ChatGPT, let’s first address the elephant in the room: What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an AI-based chat tool created by the Artificial Intelligence company, OpenAI. This new chatbot is capable of understanding and responding to natural language queries in a variety of ways.
The tool is built on the massive GPT-3 engine and can write code, solve problems and provide customer support.
GPT-3, or Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 to give it its full title, is a deep learning AI system that OpenAI trained by feeding information from millions of websites. When asked a question or given specific parameters, it can produce detailed text responses of a quality comparable to a human writer. Its ability to write poetry and fiction has captured the public's attention, but for businesses, it could have more meaningful uses.

While it has many use cases from helping marketing, to support and development, let’s dive into some specific use cases for product management and how it can help simplify the product management process.
1. Saves time ⏱️
Chat GPT can assist with tedious and repetitive tasks in software development, saving time for developers. While it is not likely to replace software engineers, it has the potential to transform the way software is developed and how developers make the best use of their time!
For instance: ChatGPT can answer questions with in-depth answers, write codes, and also gives you the context for the codes written as well.
While ChatGPT cannot give you 100% mind-blowing answers, what it can do is give developers the time to focus on actual work while ChatGPT takes care of the tedious tasks. This way you can start building your application, without having to do a bunch of research and waste time figuring out the best approach.
Similarly, ChatGPT can automate everyday tasks for Product Managers like writing PRDs, and product descriptions, which gives them more time to focus on the creative, strategic work that is essential for driving product success.

2. Learns from past conversations💡
One of the most significant advantages of ChatGPT is its ability to memorize and learn from past conversations and activities. This means that it can provide personalized responses and recommendations based on an individual Product Manager’s unique needs and preferences.
For instance: When writing product update reports for an existing feature, ChatGPT will be able to remember what the previous update of this feature was and write the new update accordingly. In other words, ChatGPT will be familiar with this existing feature, so PMs don’t have to go back and look it up. This can help Product Managers make more informed decisions and take more effective actions.
3. Improves Communication 🗣️
ChatGPT is known for its natural language processing capabilities which can help product managers communicate more effectively with their teams and stakeholders. Product Managers can use ChatGPT to generate reports and presentations, which they can use to quickly share information and updates with their teams. This reduces the need for lengthy meetings and allows for more efficient decision-making.

In other news…..Concerns over the viral avatar app, Lensa AI
The photo editing app, Lensa AI has been going viral over the last few weeks with its new feature that can create avatar images of users from their uploaded images. The avatars are created using an open-source model called Stable Diffusion which can transform your photos into those that look like they were created by a digital artist. But the concerns raised are about how these images are created.
This AI model was originally trained on 2.3 billion captioned images from the internet, but these also included watermarked and copyrighted works and many others from sites like Pinterest, Smugmug, Flickr, DeviantArt, ArtStation, Getty, and Shutterstock. The issue at hand is that artists did not give consent to having their work included.

In addition to this, the company is also facing a serious backlash as the AI tech is creating non-consensual avatars of topless nudes that have been photoshopped with someone else’s face. If users uploaded Photoshopped images of topless models with someone else’s face, for example, the AI disables its NSFW filter and will create higher-quality AI avatars of the person whose face was uploaded on the topless photo. The company said it was working to prevent this from occurring and noted attempting to make NSFW content was in violation of its terms of use.
