Samsung’s solution to overworking!🖱️
I think the last two years have been nothing short of a fiction movie for most of us—a super mutant virus attacking the world, humans worldwide being forced to live their lives under strict lockdowns, masks typically worn by doctors now part of everyone’s daily wear and so on.
While most people have adapted to working from home, the one thing that almost everyone complains about is not knowing when to stop working. The fine line between logging in and logging out becomes blurry simply because our working environment and home are the same.
The Balance Mouse was introduced as a way to maintain a healthy work-life balance. The concept was first introduced in Korea in 2018, a country that boasts high levels of work stress. But with the work-life balance being questioned by many, this concept has gained a lot of popularity on the internet lately.
The mouse will automatically veer away from the user when it detects that they’ve been working too much, and even splits itself into two and hides from the user, thus making it unusable.
This product is still only a concept at present and we are unsure when Samsung is likely to release the finished product.
In other news about companies adding features that their users will hate, YouTube is silently testing 5 unskippable ads! 🤯
When platforms like Spotify started including ads, I was so glad YouTube didn’t follow suit. But boy was I wrong. YouTube, how could you!? 😭
And to make things worse, some users are complaining that while YouTube was only playing 2 ads before, it’s now playing up to 5 ads before a video even starts playing. Like whaaaaa?
While YouTube has claimed that these 5 ads would be less than 6 seconds each, many have complained that they’re as long as 10 seconds. Some even reported seeing 11 ads instead of 5. Yikes!
Turns out, YouTube desperately wants more people to join their premium account and adding more ads is their way of reaching this goal. This feature is not live yet and is being tested among selected users, so if you’re one of the victims, here’s a virtual hug! 🫂
By increasing the number of unskippable ads, YouTube will be driving potential viewers away from creators who rely on ads, and ultimately from the platform itself. Moreover, if more people are forced to use adblockers in any way, then content creators won’t get paid by Google Adsense.

And in news about companies adding features that their users will love: Twitter starts testing the edit button! 🐦
You’ve no idea how anxious I get before I have to post a tweet from my company’s account—the number of times I cross-check it and Google spellings of simple words like “product” and “management”.
Finally addressing their most requested feature, Twitter is now testing an edit button that will allow its users to edit a tweet up to 5 times within the first 30 minutes!

Song of the week 🎶
I am going to start adding a new section here to tell you guys the songs I listen to while writing each newsletter. I thought it would be a great way to interact with all of you.
This week, I mostly had “Supernova” by Marcus Alexander on repeat. I felt like an empowered character walking in the rain of a black-and-white movie. Do let me know if you have any other song suggestions :)
